Product Definition Engineer
Position Overview
Envista Corporation is looking for a lead technical product definition manager to define and manage the product requirements, specifications, execution and roll-out activities for its cutting edge software platform which involves technologies like Web 2.0/Ajax, Web Mapping, J2EE/Web Services and Oracle in a Software as a Service (SaaS) environment.

Role & Responsibilities
As a key technical resource, you will drive development requirements and specifications for various business functions. Your experience with large distributed systems and product requirements/specification lifecycle will lead and shape the technical challenges and direction of our suite of applications. You can expect to:
- Work with Product Management to gather end-user requirements and develop use cases to establish functional criterion.
- Act as a primary contributor to translate product requirement into functional and technical specifications.
- Lead technical discussion and work with development to ensure the successful implementation of product specifications.
- Act as a liaison between development and QA and resolve conflicts.
- Promote and practice user-centered design principles and methodologies for Graphical User Interface design.
- Provide functional guidelines to Technical Support, Quality Assurance,
- Documentation and other downstream teams.
- Monitor and triage software problem reports, provide resolutions and coordinate necessary activities.
- Evaluate new functionality, industry standards, and best practices for application in products.
- Moderate and analyze usability tests for new functionality prior to release.
- Prepare data sheets and other technical launch materials for the product release.
Required
- 8 to 12 years of experience in Technical Product Management/Product Definition.
- Solid experience in creating functional and technical specifications for Enterprise applications.
- Ability to understand and to abstract customer’s requirements and translate them into software requirements.
- Experience in large Web based critical applications used by thousands of users every day.
- Solid understanding of user-centered software design principles.
- Knowledge of current software usability trends and technology trends.
- Complete understanding of various phases of product lifecycle for ISVs.
- Familiarity with:
- Mapping applications
- AJAX and Web 2.0 technologies
- Geospatial (GIS) software - Oracle, ESRI, Autodesk, etc.
- Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) – IBM/MRO, Oracle, SAP, etc.
- Familiarity with hosted applications and Software as a Service environment
BS or MS in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or related degree
